A tiny house is one answer. It is not the only one. Light, in her sense, is what is left after you stop administering a building that is larger than your days. You can steal that without a sawhorse. You can also ignore it in 200 square feet if you keep shopping like you have 2,000.

This week, do not list houses for sale. List what makes your current one heavy. One appliance you never use. One room you avoid because it is storage with a door. One Saturday that always goes to mopping, mowing, or moving boxes. Remove one of those weights. Unplug it, bag it, or stop doing the extra pass. Then sit where you live for ten minutes with nothing in your hands, the way she sat on that tiny porch and watched the sky do its job.
